Zscaler & Google unite for enhanced zero-trust security

Thu, 16th May 2024

Cloud security player Zscaler has joined forces with Google to integrate its Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) with Chrome Enterprise, offering a new level of secure access to private applications across various locations and devices. This collaboration leverages the combined strength of ZPA and Chrome Enterprise Premium to provide superior cybersecurity.

This mutual zero-trust architecture aims to bring the power of Zscaler Private Access to anyone across different locations and devices while providing Chrome Enterprise Premium's advanced threat and data protection capabilities. This partnership helps safeguard users against growing cyber threats such as malware, phishing and advanced attacks that target private applications.

In the current digital workplace, where cloud-based apps are commonplace, browsers act as gateways to sensitive data, making them a prime target for cyber threats. According to the recent Zscaler ThreatLabz 2024 Phishing Report, there has been a 60% increase in AI-powered phishing attacks due to the rapidly evolving threat landscape. The adoption of a zero-trust architecture coupled with Google Chrome Enterprise Premium offers users the most secure enterprise browsing experience.

The integration of Google's Chrome Enterprise Premium with Zscaler Private Access offers numerous benefits for enterprises. Its features include secure zero trust access to private apps as Zscaler Private Access hides applications behind the Zero Trust Exchange, connecting users directly to applications through AI-powered segmentation. This reduces the attack surface and eliminates lateral threat movement. The collaboration also offers simplified management and data protections as Chrome Enterprise Premium provides centralised control over browser settings, extensions, and data loss prevention.

Dhawal Sharma, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Zscaler, stated, "This collaboration brings together the most secure private app access solution from Zscaler with the advanced security capabilities in Chrome Enterprise to give customers the security they need without any complexity." He also emphasised the opportunity this partnership offers customers to retire legacy solutions like VPNs and Firewalls and avoid the need to adopt another enterprise browser.

Mayank Upadhyay, VP of Engineering at Google Cloud Security, commented on Google's previous work on the zero-trust architecture. He expressed excitement about working with Zscaler to deliver browser-based threat and data protection through Chrome Enterprise Premium, aiming to accelerate enterprise users' zero-trust journeys away from legacy methods.

Zscaler, a Leader in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Service Edge (SSE), protects thousands of customers from cyberattacks and data loss by securely connecting users, devices, and applications in any location. The Zero Trust Exchange platform has more than 150 dedicated data centres globally.

The integration of Zscaler Private Access with Google's Chrome Enterprise Premium marks a significant milestone in enhancing enterprise cybersecurity. By combining Zscaler's zero-trust architecture with Chrome Enterprise Premium's advanced threat and data protection capabilities, businesses can now enjoy a heightened level of security for accessing private applications across various devices and locations.

This collaboration underscores Zscaler and Google's commitment to providing innovative solutions that address the evolving challenges of the digital workplace. These solutions offer enterprises simplified management, reduced complexity, and robust protection against cyber threats.
