AppOmni earns FedRAMP status, enhancing SaaS security

Fri, 25th Oct 2024

AppOmni, a company focused on Software as a Service (SaaS) security, has obtained FedRAMP In Process status, which is a significant step towards achieving full authorisation.

The FedRAMP In Process designation allows AppOmni to engage with federal agencies to provide SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) solutions throughout the public sector. Working in collaboration with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), this achievement highlights AppOmni's commitment to meeting the stringent security standards mandated by the U.S. government.

Brandon Conley, Chief Revenue Officer of AppOmni, commented, "Achieving FedRAMP In Process status reflects our unwavering commitment to partnering with organisations of all types - including but not limited to federal agencies - to secure sensitive SaaS data and maintain strict SaaS security standards. Our SaaS security platform doesn't just complement native security functionality in SaaS apps - it surpasses them, delivering in-depth security solutions that protect the ever-expanding SaaS attack surface. With the In Process designation, we're excited to start collaborating with federal agencies to secure their SaaS environments, meet critical compliance requirements, and optimise data protection across multiple platforms."

FedRAMP, established in 2011, promotes the adoption of secure cloud services at scale for the U.S. government by providing a standardised security framework for all government agencies. Once a cloud service is authorised under FedRAMP, it can be utilised by any federal agency, which in turn enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and fosters innovation through public-private partnerships.

With the growing use of SaaS platforms in managing mission-critical data by federal agencies, Gartner has reported that U.S. government spending on SaaS applications and services rose from USD $161.9 billion in 2022 to USD $183.7 billion in 2023.

Achieving the FedRAMP In Process status assists AppOmni in helping agencies adhere to several rigorous compliance frameworks, including the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) that establishes guidelines to protect federal information systems, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 which provides controls to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of federal information systems.

The SaaS Security Platform of AppOmni offers continuous monitoring of SaaS APIs and configurations, which aids federal agencies in securing their applications while adhering to these compliance frameworks.

This designation underscores AppOmni's dedication to developing security within the SaaS ecosystem. Armed with industry expertise, AppOmni aims to assist federal agencies as they navigate complex SaaS security challenges.

As part of its strategy to expand its security framework, AppOmni's journey towards FedRAMP authorisation aligns with its belief that secure cloud adoption should empower organisations rather than introduce security risks.

AppOmni differentiates itself by surpassing native security features of individual SaaS platforms like Salesforce or ServiceNow, by offering a cross-platform solution that ensures a unified security approach across multiple applications.

The company's SSPM capabilities ensure comprehensive security coverage by continuously scanning for security trends, analysing policy issues, examining third-party SaaS applications, and providing real-time threat detection.

As federal agencies continue to adopt more SaaS platforms, AppOmni's FedRAMP In Process status is a testament to its capability to maintain secure and compliant environments. This development solidifies its position as a trusted provider of SaaS security solutions, especially significant as it has also been recognised by Frost & Sullivan as the 2023 Company of the Year for Global SSPM and as a 2023 CRN Stellar Startup.
