Truecaller iPhone app update introduces new caller ID tech

Truecaller has announced a significant update to its iPhone application, enhancing it to match the features available on Android devices.

Truecaller's new update, which utilises Apple's Live Caller ID Lookup framework, introduces a real-time live caller ID feature. This feature is implemented with homomorphic encryption to ensure privacy. Truecaller has become the first to deploy this technology for caller identification at scale.

This development allows iPhone users to benefit from Truecaller's updated AI capabilities and extensive global database. It allows for the identification of all calls and the automatic blocking of spam calls.

The update introduces automatic spam call blocking, a feature iOS users have long sought. Other enhancements include the capability to search for previously identified calls, which can now extend to as many as 2,000 numbers from the Recents list within the Phone app.

An additional feature is introducing a Premium Family plan for iPhone users. For a monthly or annual fee, this subscription allows up to four additional individuals to share all Truecaller Premium benefits.

Truecaller Premium users will have access to all the revamped features. At the same time, free version users will continue to have access to ad-supported number search and caller ID for Verified Businesses.

Spam call auto-blocking is available globally, and the updated Caller ID functionality will be available to users worldwide over the next few days.
