Fastly has appointed Peter Scott as ANZ Channel Manager, covering partner development across Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Melbourne, Scott will oversee channel partner activity in the region, including recruiting partners across Fastly's product and services portfolio. Target sectors include media, eCommerce, logistics, retail and communications.

The appointment comes as Fastly places greater emphasis on indirect sales and alliance relationships in Australia and New Zealand. The channel is expected to play a central role in the company's regional strategy as it looks to expand its reach through specialist partners.

Career background

Scott has more than 15 years of experience in the IT industry. He joined Fastly four years ago as Asia Pacific Senior Account Manager and was later promoted to the company's first Key Account Manager.

In that role, he built the strategic account management ecosystem for Asia Pacific and increased the number of customers using Fastly's managed services, according to the company.

Channel focus

The hire aligns with a broader partner strategy. Late last year, Fastly introduced its Fastly Certified Services Partner Program to train and certify technical security professionals at partner organisations to implement and manage the company's security products.

The program is designed to help partners expand their services offerings and create new revenue streams, while giving customers more choice in how they deploy and manage security infrastructure.

That framework provides context for Scott's remit in Australia and New Zealand, where Fastly is seeking partners with sector expertise and technical specialisation. The move indicates the company is aiming to deepen its presence in customer segments where partner-led delivery and support can influence buying decisions.

"Fastly is going through a transition in the region, with the channel playing a critical part in our market momentum," said Peter Scott, ANZ Channel Manager, Fastly. "We have a unique offering in the market, enabling our partners to offer services in areas such as web application firewalls, automated DDoS and bot protection, and object storage without the overhead of egress costs. This will enable partners to pass savings on to customers. I'm looking forward to building mutual wins with partners and expanding our partner channel to benefit Fastly, our partners and our customers."

Partner strategy

Fastly's regional leadership said partner recruitment is now an active priority. The company is targeting organisations in Australia and New Zealand that can demonstrate clear differentiation and skills in selected market segments.

That approach reflects a wider trend among infrastructure and security suppliers, many of which are relying more heavily on partner ecosystems to win enterprise customers and provide implementation support. In sectors such as retail, media and logistics, buyers often look for local integration expertise alongside the underlying technology platform.

Fastly is known for services spanning content delivery, edge compute, security and observability. Its customers include Reddit, Universal Music Group, Australian Rugby League Commission, Linktree and Trade Me.

Recruitment plans

Expanding the partner base in Australia and New Zealand may also help Fastly compete more directly in a market where channel relationships often shape access to mid-market and enterprise accounts. Local partner networks can carry weight in procurement processes, particularly where customers want managed services, compliance support and ongoing operational help from providers in the same market.

Bruce Bennie, AVP, ANZ at Fastly, outlined the company's recruitment plans for the region.

"We are actively recruiting channel partners in Australia and New Zealand who can offer clear differentiation and skills specialisation in key market segments," said Bruce Bennie, AVP, ANZ, Fastly. "We see strong alliance engagement as an integral part of Fastly's ongoing success and look forward to Peter Scott driving profitable relationships with our partners and delivering an enhanced experience for our customers."
