Cybersecurity startup 12Port launches with zero trust solution
A new cybersecurity startup, 12Port, announced its official launch out of stealth mode today, unveiling its microsegmentation solution designed to support zero trust security strategies. The company aims to make security more accessible and understandable for all businesses.
Microsegmentation has become integral to zero trust initiatives aimed at stopping lateral movement within networks. Traditional solutions can be complex, challenging to implement and manage, and resource-intensive. 12Port's Horizon solution, which features an agentless architecture, promises ease of deployment, monitoring, and enforcement of network microsegmentation policies, thus ensuring robust protection across data centres and cloud platforms.
12Port was founded by security and enterprise software experts Mark Klinchin and Peter Senescu. The two founders bring with them a wealth of experience, having previously co-founded Xton Technology, a privileged access management provider acquired by Imprivata in 2021, and MetaVis Technologies, a leader in cloud information management acquired by Metalogix (now Quest Software) in 2015.
"With breaches and ransomware attacks in the news daily, organisations are seeking cost-effective and high-value security solutions to halt lateral movement and satisfy zero trust requirements," said Senescu. "12Port Horizon not only meets these requirements but also simplifies the implementation process, making advanced security accessible to all enterprises."
The cybersecurity landscape is undergoing significant transformation, driven by the increasing adoption of cloud technologies and the rise of sophisticated cyber threats. Businesses are recognising the increased importance of granular control and real-time visibility in protecting critical assets and mitigating risk.
Microsegmentation is viewed as a critical component of zero trust strategies as it reduces attack surfaces by dividing networks into isolated segments, thereby minimising the impact of potential breaches. However, traditional microsegmentation solutions have proven inadequate and often difficult to deploy and manage in complex, multi-cloud environments.
Addressing these challenges, 12Port Horizon was built for modern IT environments and delivers a scalable microsegmentation solution. The agentless architecture offers unparalleled ease of deployment and monitoring, along with the enforcement of network microsegmentation policies, ensuring robust protection across data centres and cloud platforms.
"We've built a solution that removes the barriers traditionally associated with microsegmentation, making it more accessible, cost-effective, and scalable for organisations of all sizes. Our goal is to empower businesses to protect their critical assets without overburdening their IT teams or budgets," continued Klinchin.
12Port was founded in 2024 and is committed to delivering innovative cybersecurity solutions that address the evolving needs of modern enterprises. The firm's network security platform is centred on microsegmentation, which visualises internal east-west network traffic and segments workloads across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. Focusing on microsegmentation and zero trust architectures, 12Port aspires to provide robust, scalable, and easy-to-deploy security solutions that adequately protect critical assets and data.
