Acronis launches global MDR service for MSPs world

Wed, 8th Apr 2026

Acronis has launched Acronis MDR by Acronis TRU for managed service providers, with global availability.

The managed detection and response service provides round-the-clock threat monitoring, threat triage and incident response without requiring MSPs to run their own security operations centre.

The launch comes as service providers face pressure to expand their security offerings while managing higher costs, staffing demands and a growing volume of cyber threats. Acronis is aiming to address that gap with a service built around its Threat Research Unit.

The product combines endpoint detection and response, patch management and attack rollback with business continuity tools on a single platform. According to Acronis, critical incidents can be remediated in as little as 15 minutes.

The company is targeting MSPs of different sizes with flexible pricing and a simplified onboarding process. The approach reflects a broader push in the cybersecurity market to make managed security services easier for smaller providers to adopt.

MSP focus

Managed service providers often face a trade-off when adding security monitoring and response. Building an in-house security operations centre requires specialist staff, round-the-clock coverage and multiple software tools, which can be difficult for smaller and mid-sized firms to sustain.

Acronis says the new service is designed to ease that burden by combining detection, response and recovery in one offering. Its integrated structure is also intended to reduce the operational overhead that can come from using separate tools for monitoring, remediation and backup.

In a statement announcing the launch, Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis, said the goal was to make advanced detection and response broadly accessible.

"Acronis MDR by Acronis TRU was built to make advanced detection and response accessible globally to MSPs of any size," said Magdanurov.

"Unlike traditional MDR services, Acronis MDR combines proactive protection, integrated business continuity, and Acronis' expertise so MSPs have the ability to deliver secure, high-quality MDR to their clients while minimising complexity and costs."

Partner options

Acronis is also extending the service through external managed security service provider partners. The broader MDR portfolio includes delivery through Legato Security in North America and through regional MSSP partners in markets including the UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, the Nordics and Bulgaria.

These partner routes are intended to give MSPs access to local language support and coverage aligned with regional compliance requirements. In North America, the Legato Security option also includes add-on services such as compliance consulting and penetration testing.

The partner model reflects how security vendors are broadening their reach through specialist service providers rather than relying only on direct delivery. For MSPs, that can provide more choice in how they package and deliver security services to end customers.

Customer view

Acronis also included comments from SIX ICT, which uses the service. Its account focused on the difficulty mid-sized providers face in maintaining a fully staffed in-house security operation.

"If you want to build a strong security operation, you need 24/7 coverage and deep expertise. That's not something a mid-sized MSP can easily do in-house, but with Acronis MDR, we get that level of protection for our customers," said Robert Nieuwenhuijse, CEO at SIX ICT.

"We were really impressed by the technical knowledge of the MDR team-the way they investigate incidents, how thoroughly they work and how they communicate. It shows the seniority of the experts protecting our systems," he added.

Acronis, founded in Singapore and now based in Switzerland, sells cyber protection and data protection products through service providers and IT departments. Its platform is used by more than 21,000 service providers to protect more than 750,000 businesses, according to the company.
