Veeam, an operator in data protection and ransomware recovery, in collaboration with Lenovo, has launched Lenovo TruScale Backup with Veeam in Sydney, Australia. This innovative offering provides an on-premises cloud-like experience aimed at securing workloads regardless of their geographical location. The joint venture promises a tailored, hassle-free data protection service that will help enterprises reduce recovery times, streamline IT complexities, and uphold data sovereignty.

Lenovo TruScale Backup with Veeam integrates Lenovo’s ThinkSystem servers and storage with Veeam’s Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE, and Lenovo TruScale services. This combination provides a scalable backup as a service solution, which can be deployed on-premises or in co-located environments. The collaboration is expected to deliver significant benefits, including enhanced data protection, simplified IT landscapes, and quicker recovery times in case of a cyberattack.

John Jester, Chief Revenue Officer at Veeam, emphasised the significance of the new partnership, stating, "Businesses already have enough challenges when scaling their infrastructure quickly. TruScale Backup with Veeam brings them simplicity in reducing IT complexity and also helps ensure their data is protected and under their governance no matter where it is located. With Veeam's No. 1 data protection and ransomware recovery, our joint customers can spend their time focused on running their business."

In today's fast-paced digital landscape, companies are increasingly seeking reliable backup and data recovery solutions to counter IT complexities and emerging cyber threats. Gartner predicts that by 2028, 75% of large enterprises will have adopted Backup as a Service (BaaS), a significant increase from the current 15%. January 2023 data from IDC shows that 47% of respondents already use on-premises Storage as a Service (STaaS), and another 32% plan to implement it within the year. The primary drivers for this shift are the need for on-demand storage capacity and rapid deployment capabilities.

Dale Aultman, Vice President and General Manager of Hybrid Cloud Services at Lenovo, echoed similar sentiments regarding the collaboration. "Lenovo’s TruScale Backup with Veeam is a strong choice for Backup as a Service for several reasons. Not only does it give customers the tactical advantage of ransomware protection with immutability by default, but TruScale provides right-sizing of the solution from the start, with cloud-like economics to scale up and down on demand. We’re happy to collaborate with Veeam to bring these benefits and more to our customers," Aultman said.

One of the key features of TruScale Backup with Veeam is its capability to efficiently protect critical data and restore it safely in the event of a cyberattack. The solution also adheres to the 3-2-1-1-0 best practice in secure data storage, which involves creating multiple copies of backed-up data at no additional cost. This ensures that businesses can meet their desired Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) with zero errors in backups.

The TruScale Backup with Veeam service offers several notable benefits. It provides a cloud-like experience and economic model on-premises, improves backup reliability through granular, self-service virtual machine (VM) and file recovery, and relieves IT teams of day-to-day lifecycle tasks and capacity planning with on-demand scalability.
