SailPoint unveils new identity security cloud solution
SailPoint Technologies has announced the introduction of its new Identity Security Cloud capability, SailPoint Privileged Task Automation.
SailPoint Privileged Task Automation is designed to help organisations improve productivity and security by automating and delegating the execution of repeatable privileged tasks. The solution aims to address the inefficiencies and security risks associated with manually managing routine privileged tasks, often performed daily by utilising scripts or siloed tools.
The new capability offers a holistic approach to managing tasks and protecting identities, based on the type of access required. It features an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop interface for workflow configuration and provides an out-of-the-box library of customisable templates to facilitate workflow adoption. The system is intended to enhance IT operations accuracy and efficiency while strengthening governance.
A survey highlighted the vulnerabilities businesses face, with 58% of respondents indicating they have privileged access credentials coded into automation tools or scripts, potentially leaving them exposed. The Identity Defined Security Alliance 2024 Trends In Securing Digital Identities noted that stolen credentials were the second highest reason organisations faced identity-related incidents over the past year.
SailPoint Privileged Task Automation integrates with common credential vaults and automates credential use for each task without exposing them to users, aiming to increase productivity and security. "Privileged Task Automation is another way we continue to leverage the power of our platform, SailPoint Atlas, to introduce new capabilities, which solve for new use cases and accelerate time to value for our customers," stated Matt Mills, President of SailPoint.
He further added, "At SailPoint, we believe all identities may need privileged access for various tasks. Next-generation identity security will handle privilege as an extension of the organisation's existing identity security platform, enabling comprehensive oversight across an organisation's entire identity landscape."
The company describes Privileged Task Automation as complementing existing Privileged Access Management technologies, allowing companies to assign specific privileged tasks typically requiring full privileged session management and leverage credentials from PAM vaults. This approach is intended to accelerate secure task execution and deliver value to customers.
Ben Cody, Senior Vice President, Product at SailPoint, remarked, "The launch of SailPoint Privileged Task Automation further demonstrates our commitment to helping organisations solve their identity security challenges, across all types of identities, including privileged identities. It also helps organisations mitigate the challenges associated with the IT and security talent shortage and alleviate the burden from privileged users so they can focus on value-add activities rather than repetitive tasks."
The Privileged Task Automation feature is currently available for Identity Security Cloud Business and Business Plus customers, extending SailPoint's offerings in identity security and supporting enterprises in managing and securing access efficiently.
