Outpost24 enhances threat insight with dark web module

Today

Outpost24 has integrated dark web insights into its External Attack Surface Management (EASM) platform as part of a new Digital Risk Protection (DRP) module.

The Dark Web module aims to provide security teams with enhanced visibility of their organisation's exposure to cyber threats by monitoring mentions of the business across underground forums and other sources on the dark web.

It is designed to enable quicker responses to potential threats, by alerting organisations to signs of sales or leaks of sensitive data before they escalate into major security breaches.

By scanning both open and closed forums alongside other web sources, the module offers proactive identification of risks related to company data. Access to real-time insights allows users to swiftly assess and address emerging threats, potentially minimising harm and reducing downtime during security incidents.

The integration is intended to assist in strengthening security decision-making within organisations.

By providing clear insights into potential and ongoing threats, the module empowers security personnel to allocate resources more effectively in response to identified risks.

The Dark Web module is part of a broader strategy to enhance Outpost24's EASM platform with automated threat intelligence data, complementing the existing Leaked Credentials module.

This combined approach is meant to provide a comprehensive overview of an organisation's attack surface.

Security teams using the Dark Web module can detect the sale of corporate data or access on the dark web, identify early-stage plans for cyberattacks, monitor threats targeting industry peers, and support investigations into security breaches by examining if stolen data is being marketed online.

Outpost24 has highlighted the importance of the expertise provided by its threat intelligence team in supporting the module.

This team continuously researches cybercriminal tactics and trends to ensure the module's intelligence is accurate and relevant. Access to unique forums and platforms within the cybercriminal underworld is a key component, allowing for insights that may not be available through other sources.

The integration of the Dark Web module marks an extension of the Digital Risk Protection capabilities within Outpost24's EASM platform.

This enhancement combines the analysis of attack surface data and threat intelligence on a single platform, simplifying the prioritisation and proactive management of threats.

The existing Digital Risk Protection modules within the EASM platform now include the Credentials module, which provides intelligence on leaked, stolen, and sold user credentials, as well as the newly integrated Dark Web module focused on monitoring malicious activities in the dark web.

These modules aim to improve awareness and readiness against potential cyber threats.
