Kordia is adding another notch to its cybersecurity belt with the acquisition of managed security services provider (MSSP) SecOps NZ.

SecOps NZ launched just three years ago and provides managed security services to the government, the public sector, and the corporate, financial, and retail sectors. The company operates an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 CDO from its head office.

SecOps NZ will continue to operate as Kordia SecOps and ‘provide business-critical services for New Zealand businesses'.

According to Kordia Group CEO Shaun Rendell, the company has seen a sharp rise in the demand for managed security services.

“Bringing SecOps under the Kordia umbrella further cements our position as a leader in the cybersecurity space. Combined, we now have more than 75 cybersecurity experts across compliance, consultancy, managed security, penetration testing, and more, all underpinned by our 24 x 7 x 365 Cyber Defence Operations Centres (CDO), and a robust technology offering.

“Better yet, our offering is provided by a 100% New Zealand owned and operated business that ultimately exists to help protect local businesses, so they operate securely and deliver to their customers.

SecOps managing director Dermot Conlon says the business will remain in its existing premises in the Auckland suburb of Parnell.  Diljit Bolla will continue to lead the company's operations.

Conlon also reveals the company has been approached by private equity firms in the past. However, those firms didn't share SecOps' customer focus, people, or keeping the company New Zealand-owned to help other local businesses.

Conlon adds, “Kordia fits this vision and we're excited to be joining them as we continue on our path of rapid growth.

In recent years Kordia has acquired Aura Information Security, EMRGE, and Base2. Rendell says the combined expertise of these companies provides many opportunities.
