Island has been named the only 2026 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for Secure Enterprise Browsers, with the highest willingness-to-recommend score among vendors in the category.

The recognition was based on 331 verified reviews collected over an 18-month period ending in May 2026. Island said it had an overall rating of 5.0 out of 5 and that its review total exceeded the combined number for the next two vendors in the market.

Gartner defines secure enterprise browsers as products that apply enterprise security policies and controls through a centrally managed custom browser, plug-in or browser extension. The category covers security and policy enforcement for web, software-as-a-service and private applications, as well as browser hardening delivered through the browser rather than at the endpoint operating system or network level.

Island said it achieved a 98% willingness-to-recommend score and ranked highest across the four measures used in the assessment: product capabilities, deployment experience, support experience and sales experience.

It also said it drew the largest share of large-enterprise reviewers in the report. According to figures provided by the company, 21% of those reviewers came from organisations with more than USD $10 billion in annual revenue, while 26% came from organisations with revenue between USD $1 billion and USD $10 billion.

Customer base

The review pool excluded submissions from vendor partners and companies with less than USD $50 million in revenue. That means the published feedback came from larger corporate users rather than smaller businesses or channel affiliates.

Island has built its profile around the enterprise browser market, but it is also broadening its reach beyond the browser itself. Its platform now extends across user and agent workspaces inside and outside the browser environment, according to the company.

That includes the Island Extension for consumer browsers, Island Desktop for desktop applications and local agentic resources, and Island Network for network services, control points for MCP and large language model gateways, application programming interfaces and other environments where agents operate. A single control plane governs application access, data protection and identity management across those settings, the company said.

Island said user or agent roles, device posture, geolocation and network conditions can be used to determine access rules and protection policies in real time. The announcement reflects a broader push by security suppliers to manage both human users and artificial intelligence agents under the same policy framework.

Mike Fey, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Island, linked the customer ratings to the demands of its client base.

"Island's customers operate with world-class security teams in high-stakes environments and little tolerance for friction. Those same customers are true design partners, shaping the product from their first browser deployment to the full agentic workspaces they are beginning to run today. Their reviews, feedback, and growth with Island are the metrics that matter most to us," said Fey.
