Inde has appointed Naveed Khan as Technical Director, Cloud and Modernisation. He has worked at the company for two years in a senior cloud architecture role.

He moves into the position from Principal Hybrid and Private Cloud Architect, where he worked with customers on Azure adoption, hybrid cloud deployments and full migrations from on-premises infrastructure. His work also included troubleshooting across cloud and hybrid environments.

Before joining Inde, Khan spent eight years at CCL as Azure Practise Lead, leading a team of engineers. In his new role, he will co-lead Inde's Cloud and Compute team alongside Chris Burke while continuing to work directly with customers.

The appointment is an internal promotion at a time when many organisations are rethinking how they use cloud systems beyond lift-and-shift migration projects. Khan has focused on helping customers modernise their environments and keep projects on track when technical issues arise.

Explaining why he sought the role, Khan said he saw it as providing continuity for both the team and clients.

"When this role opened up, it made sense to put my name in the mix," said Naveed Khan, Technical Director, Cloud and Modernisation at Inde. "The team already knows me and I know them, so there's no ramp-up time and no disruption to our clients. We can just keep moving. I was drawn to the idea of getting back into team leadership, helping to streamline workflow for the team and contributing to innovation around future service offerings that will benefit our clients."

Cloud focus

Khan said he wants to move customer conversations beyond basic infrastructure changes towards broader cloud modernisation. That reflects a wider industry shift as companies look to get more value from cloud spending rather than simply relocating workloads.

"As Technical Director, I will continue to work directly with clients to understand their pain points and advise on the right technology to solve them. We don't want to just shuffle deck chairs around, so to speak. We want our customers to use the cloud efficiently so we are solving problems, not just moving them around," said Khan.

Inde's cloud and modernisation work includes hybrid environments that connect on-premises systems with public cloud services, as well as full migration projects. Khan's previous role placed him at the centre of those engagements, covering design, implementation and issue resolution.

Royden Burt, General Manager Solutions at Inde, said the promotion reflects Khan's standing in the market and his experience with customers.

"Naveed is already well known and highly respected in the Dunedin market, both for his technical capability and the way he connects and works with customers to solve problems," said Royden Burt, General Manager Solutions at Inde. "This role gives him a springboard to take that experience and influence further, helping more customers and strengthening our Cloud and Modernisation capability across New Zealand."

Team leadership

The move also returns Khan to a formal leadership position after his earlier management experience at CCL. At Inde, he is expected to combine that oversight with continued technical involvement in client work, suggesting the company wants leadership grounded in delivery as well as strategy.

Khan also pointed to company culture as a reason he values both the role and the business. He described a workplace where staff from across the organisation step in when issues arise.

"Everyone gets stuck in when there's a problem, no matter what area it's in. A lot of bigger organisations only have that in pockets. And it's a business that's engineering and technology-led first, sales-led second. That's rare, and it's a big part of why I enjoy working here," said Khan.
