Cloudbrink unveils groundbreaking personal SASE solution

Wed, 15th May 2024

Cloudbrink has announced the launch of the world's first personal Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution tailored for the hybrid workforce. The latest development integrates Internet security functionalities into its high-performance Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) platform, effectively rounding out its security capabilities.

The addition of Internet security features, following the firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS) capability introduced in December, completes Cloudbrink's suite of core SASE functionalities. This comprehensive line-up ensures secure, high-performance access to the web, software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud, and on-premise applications for hybrid users. It is designed to work seamlessly over any network connection without the need for hardware dependency.

Presently, organisations are tackling two significant challenges. The first issue is that proxy solutions tend to considerably degrade application performance as soon as they are deployed. The second problem involves the complexity of SASE, which often combines several products, leading to the cumbersome management of multiple policy engines, various consoles for visibility, inconsistent user experiences, and extensive management and licensing overheads.

Prakash Mana, CEO of Cloudbrink, commented: “Even Gartner, the originator of the term ‘SASE,’ acknowledges that it has become too complex, too difficult, and too costly for enterprises to deploy SASE architecture. Organisations need to transition swiftly to the emerging 'coffee shop networking model,' which delivers lightweight, adaptable networking solutions replicating the seamless user experience of coffee shop connectivity, thereby eliminating the complex network infrastructure typically seen in corporate settings.”

Mana emphasised the critical importance of this approach, especially for hybrid work environments where security, performance, flexibility, and portability are paramount. “We’ve left-shifted security and integrated core SASE functionality into a true per-user consumption-based SaaS service, making it seamless for users to access applications and remarkably easy for IT to deploy and manage.”

Cloudbrink's personal SASE solution introduces a suite of key new and enhanced capabilities designed to streamline management and bolster security. Unified policy management merges security and networking functions, simplifying administration and ensuring consistency. The solution offers a single application that encompasses a spectrum of functionalities, including high-performance access, personal Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), zero-trust security, Internet security, and digital experience monitoring, providing users with a comprehensive experience.

Moreover, centralised visibility across networks, users, and applications enhance monitoring and control, while a unified zero-trust security stack featuring robust user authentication, device posture assessment, granular role-based access control, and SDP-compliant security ensures a secure environment.

Mauricio Sanchez, Senior Research Director of Enterprise Networking and Security at Dell’Oro Group, stated: “In many SASE solutions for remote users, security often overshadows networking. Yet, for remote users to enjoy a positive experience and robust security, equal emphasis on high-performance networking and stringent security is essential. A truly effective SASE solution integrates these elements seamlessly, supporting the hybrid workforce's demands.”

Karl Gouverneur, former F100 CIO, observed, “CIOs want the SASE promise of integrated networking and security, but they’re looking for the ‘easy button.’ Legacy single-vendor SASE offerings are often an expensive, overly complex patchwork of acquired products. Multi-vendor solutions bring further complexity, rely on constant finger-pointing, and need additional integration. This is the first solution I’ve seen that provides the necessary modern and integrated SASE functionality in a single SKU while delivering high performance even over unreliable network connections.”

Cloudbrink's new personal SASE solution is set to redefine the landscape of secure, high-performance connectivity for the modern hybrid workforce globally. The company leverages AI to offer edge-native hybrid access as a service (HAaaS), delivering enhanced performance for cloud, SaaS, and data centre applications.
