Trend Micro crowned as Champion in global cybersecurity matrix
Wed, 24th Jan 2024

Global cybersecurity firm Trend Micro is heralding the triumph of its channel-first strategy following its recognition as a Champion in the Canalys Global Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix 2023. Notably, the accolade placed Trend at the top, ahead of 30 cybersecurity vendors evaluated by Canalys. This accomplishment is underpinned by the company's channel program, which shields the most geographically diverse customer base across 69 countries worldwide and is widely considered one of the industry's most comprehensive.

Matthew Ball, Chief Analyst at Canalys, lauded Trend for the relentless advancements made over the previous year, including the development of its novel partner program, the growth of AWS CPPO partners by 40%, and a 46% surge in MSPs leveraging Vision One. He added: "We want to see continued momentum from vendors to improve ease of doing business, drive growth opportunities and enhance partner training and enablement. Trend continues to excel as a channel security thought leader and innovator."

To earn the Champions title in the Canalys Global Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix, security providers must possess high and consistent vendor benchmark scores. They also need to command a high share of global shipments alongside robust market performance, vision, leadership and change capabilities. In addition to these noteworthy achievements, Canalys has acknowledged Trend’s soon-to-be-launched redesigned Partner Program, designed to empower specific partner business models and accelerate their growth and competencies.

COO at Trend, Kevin Simzer, underlined the company's collaborative approach, stating: "When our partners and end customers succeed, we succeed. We tailor in-depth advisories for partners and keep them updated on the constantly shifting threat landscape. Our singular vision for platform-based cybersecurity is clearly resonating and helping to make our connected world safer for everyone."

Christina Decker, Director of Strategic Channels Europe, expressed the company's dedication to fostering distinct partner business models, stimulating growth, and enhancing competencies. She adds: "The integration of lead generation, a ground-breaking Partner Capability Model, and cutting-edge Partner Digital Experiences highlights our relentless pursuit of delivering all-encompassing support to our partners."

Trend Micro's high standing is further exemplified by its impressive overall vendor rating of 84% using Canalys’ Vendor Benchmark Analyzer. This tool collects channel partners' experiences with vendors to provide scores for cross-comparison. The cybersecurity firm significantly surpassed the industry average in three key areas evaluated by partners: programs and enablement, sales engagement, and partner experience. Key areas of excellence included in partner training (86.3%), technical support (85.6%), account management (87.5%) and channel dedication (87.5%). As a result, Trend Micro comfortably exceeded the overall vendor benchmark ratings of other competitors, including Palo Alto Networks, Trellix, and Check Point.
