Saviynt names Tim Wedande APJ Field Chief Technology Officer

Thu, 23rd Apr 2026 (Today)

Saviynt has appointed Tim Wedande as Field Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific and Japan. He will be based in Melbourne.

In the role, Wedande will lead technology strategy, support customer engagements and advise enterprises on identity security projects across the region.

The appointment comes as organisations across Asia Pacific and Japan increase spending on identity and access management while updating security systems, adapting to hybrid work and moving more workloads to the cloud.

Wedande will work with customers, partners and internal teams across the region, with a remit that includes supporting adoption of Saviynt's Identity Cloud platform.

He brings more than two decades of experience in cybersecurity and digital transformation. Most recently, he was a Partner at EY, where he worked with organisations in regulated sectors on identity-related security programmes.

His background includes security advisory work and aligning cybersecurity planning with broader business objectives. He has also worked with enterprises modernising identity systems as part of wider technology change.

Regional demand

Identity and access management has become a growing priority for businesses in Asia Pacific and Japan as cyber threats, regulatory pressure and complex IT environments push organisations to tighten control over user access.

Company-cited market research points to strong growth in the regional identity and access management sector through the end of the decade. Demand is being driven by digital transformation projects and the need to manage access across cloud services, internal systems and hybrid work environments.

That backdrop has increased the importance of senior technical roles that combine customer-facing advisory work with product and strategy input. Field CTO positions have become more common among software providers seeking closer ties with enterprise buyers and partners in local markets.

Alex Lei, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan at Saviynt, linked the appointment to those market conditions.

"APJ is a dynamic and rapidly evolving market where organisations are prioritising identity as their core security control," said Alex Lei, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan, Saviynt.

"Tim's deep business consulting expertise and customer-first mindset will strengthen our presence in the region and help customers unlock the full value of identity security," Lei said.

Customer focus

For Saviynt, the hire adds a senior executive in the region at a time when identity security vendors are working to position themselves more centrally in enterprise risk, governance and cloud migration discussions.

The company describes its platform as covering access management and governance for human, non-human and AI-related identities across applications, data and business processes. Across the market, vendors are increasingly framing identity as a core control point for security and compliance as organisations deploy more software tools and automation.

Wedande said the role will focus on helping customers manage that complexity.

"Having worked closely with customers and teams across Saviynt, I've seen firsthand how central identity has become to business resilience and growth," said Tim Wedande, Field Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific and Japan.

"As organisations across APJ accelerate digital and AI-led transformation, there is a clear opportunity to modernise identity as a strategic control plane, enabling stronger security, faster innovation, and measurable business value. Saviynt is well positioned to help enterprises navigate this complexity with clarity and confidence," Wedande said.

Melbourne will serve as Wedande's base as he works across the broader Asia Pacific and Japan market, where large organisations in finance, government and other regulated industries continue to review identity controls as part of wider security and compliance programmes.
