ReliaQuest launches GreyMatter Discover for AI-driven security
ReliaQuest has launched GreyMatter Discover, a new solution designed to enable security teams to identify, prioritise and act on risks across their digital environments.
GreyMatter Discover is described as the first solution of its kind, built natively into an AI-powered security operations platform. It offers faster threat detection, investigation, and response capabilities for organisations that face increasingly fragmented data environments due to digital transformation.
According to ReliaQuest, the expansion of device usage and wider distribution of data have significantly increased the attack surface for many enterprises. Many security teams struggle to maintain clear insight into their asset and identity inventories, which places organisations at risk. The company cited figures from its Annual Threat Report indicating that nearly 70% of ransomware attacks are traced back to unknown and unmanaged devices. Attackers, once inside an environment, can move laterally within as little as 27 minutes.
GreyMatter Discover leverages the existing capabilities of the GreyMatter platform to access telemetry from any data source, enabling the detection of security threats through automation and providing security teams with direct context and control within a single platform. The new solution can uncover exposures and allow teams to resolve them directly via the GreyMatter platform. The context derived from these insights also contributes to GreyMatter's AI agent, allowing it to make more informed decisions at speed.
ReliaQuest notes that GreyMatter Discover works alongside its Digital Risk Protection solution, offering a combined view into both internal and external attack surfaces and providing a more comprehensive assessment of potential risks facing the organisation.
Brian Foster, President of Product and Technical Operations at ReliaQuest, said, "Security operations teams need to keep pace with the constantly expanding attack surface and continuously growing list of vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and threats to their critical assets and users. We built GreyMatter Discover because we know security teams don't just need another tool. They need more complete visibility and the ability to take action in one place. Our approach reimagines attack surface management as an integral component of security operations and proactive threat containment."
The launch of GreyMatter Discover has drawn positive responses from practitioners in the security sector. Patrick O'Keefe, Head of Global Cyber Security at Circle K, commented, "Having this solution within GreyMatter makes perfect sense. We need to perform continuous asset and vulnerability discovery. Our business moves fast, and even adding a simple IoT device like a digital sign alters our attack surface. Having a dynamic solution that continuously scans our environment in a way that's integrated into our security operations platform will be extremely valuable."
Carl Lee, Information Security Manager of Cyber Defence Operations at APi Group, added, "APi Group does a lot of M&A, and our whole attack surface constantly changes every time we start to onboard a new company. It's important that we have visibility into this as soon as possible. We currently do this with a multitude of tools, but having this capability within GreyMatter would streamline this process and enable us to fix vulnerabilities faster, make better decisions and prioritise differently."
According to ReliaQuest, the GreyMatter platform aims to provide security teams with the tools to detect, contain, investigate and respond to threats in under five minutes. The company states that it accomplishes this by using data stitching, detection at source, AI, and automation, which enables the seamless connection of telemetry from across cloud, multi-cloud, and on-premises infrastructures.
ReliaQuest reports that its technology is used by over 1,000 customers globally, supported by a team of 1,200 staff operating from six global centres and tailored to each organisation's unique technology, architecture and business requirements.
