Radware unveils AI-powered DNS DDoS protection solution

Mon, 29th Apr 2024

Radware has unveiled a new AI-powered edition of its DNS DDoS Protection solution. This novel technology applies Radware's patented algorithms to swiftly distinguish between legitimate and potentially harmful traffic. It then brings its DDoS defences into play based on the specific attacker, presenting a valuable tool in the drive to counter intricate DNS DDoS attack campaigns.

The advantage for DNS service providers or firms hosting their DNS services is clear. The refined version, devoid of human intervention, can drastically curtail time to resolution and lower the total cost of ownership. As stated by Gabi Malka, Radware's Chief Operating Officer: "For too long, the cyber world has relied on manual investigation and been governed by DNS security rules that have created constraints and made organisations less secure and more vulnerable."

There is now DNS DDoS protection that demands no human interaction to manage the attack life cycle. According to Mr Malka, Radware's new rule-free, AI-driven method to DNS DDoS protection "accurately identifies and surgically blocks attack traffic automatically without disrupting legitimate traffic."

Radware's 2024 Global Threat Analysis Report underlines the urgency and relevance of such technology. It reveals a staggering 394% growth in DNS flood attacks between 2022 and 2023. DNS Floods have also escalated in scale since the fourth quarter of 2022, with the largest attack in the third quarter of 2023 peaking at 2.15 million DNS queries per second. Those at greatest risk include financial service organisations, telecoms, government agencies, and service providers.

Radware has elaborated four key features of its new DNS DDoS protection, which aspires to ensure network and service accessibility and resilience: accurate protection against DNS DDoS attacks, Automated AI-powered protection, shortest mean time-to-resolve, and a rule-free approach to drive lower total cost of ownership. The core objective of these components is precise identification, mitigation, and automation in countering the campaigns.

Regarded as a fully managed service, Radware's DNS DDoS Protection is backed by real-time support from an experienced security team. This Emergency Response Team (ERT) provides customers with a unique point of contact for both routine and emergency security needs.
