Progress unveils new IP indexing for Flowmon platform

Yesterday

Progress has announced new capabilities for its network observability platform, Progress Flowmon, enabling search acceleration for faster cyberthreat detection and network troubleshooting.

The updated Flowmon platform introduces innovative IP address indexing that enhances IP search efficiency by up to ten times, significantly reducing the time needed for data analysis and troubleshooting. This enhancement enables network administrators to efficiently track activities tied to specific IP addresses, offering robust protection for optimal network performance.

In addressing the challenges faced by IT teams, Sundar Subramanian, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Infrastructure Management at Progress, stated, "For many IT teams, retrospective analysis while hunting for threats amidst growing volumes of telemetry data can be time-consuming, especially in large and complex networks.

"In the ever-shifting terrain of cybersecurity, the urgency to resolve network performance and security issues rapidly—within moments, is paramount."

He added, "With the addition of IP Address Indexing in Flowmon, IT professionals can perform near-immediate searches to process IP address data swiftly, gaining critical insights essential for quick troubleshooting of their networks."

As networks expand, the increased volume of telemetry data can result in longer search times, slowing down threat-hunting efforts. The enhancements to the Flowmon platform allow network administrators and cybersecurity professionals to quickly identify network activities associated with specific IP addresses, thereby accelerating the process of data analysis and troubleshooting. The IP Address Indexing feature is also designed to scale with network growth, maintaining search efficiency despite an expanding number of IP addresses.

The update includes additional features aimed at enhancing usability and streamlining workflows. The platform now sets IP Conversation as the default selection for key network statistics, providing instant insights into network interactions. Additionally, updates to the Analysis chart allow users to toggle network performance monitoring metrics for a customised view of data. The Monitoring Center, Dashboards, and Reports have also been improved with new application information icons for external IP addresses and a highlight feature for denied IP addresses from Flowmon ADS blacklists.

Further updates to Flowmon enhance precision and reliability in event reporting. The introduction of flexible event reporting via Syslog messages over the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) facilitates targeted and reliable event reporting to designated IP addresses. This enhancement accelerates data processing and issue identification.

The Flowmon network observability solution, with its AI-powered detection capabilities, provides fast access to actionable insights for enhanced network and application performance across hybrid cloud ecosystems, supporting IT teams in effectively managing their network infrastructure.
