Lancom Technology launches AI services to boost safe adoption in ANZ

Tue, 23rd Sep 2025

Lancom Technology has launched a suite of generative AI services aimed at helping organisations in Australia and New Zealand adopt artificial intelligence at scale while minimising associated risks.

AI adoption and associated risks

Priscila Bernardes, Chief Executive Officer at Lancom Technology, highlighted the dual nature of AI in current business environments. She commented on the high failure rate among startups pursuing AI applications and the challenges arising when organisations adopt the technology without a clear understanding of its capabilities and appropriate uses.

"We're in an interesting period right now where AI is both a non-negotiable and yet presents substantial risk. There's a reason those startups are giving it a go, and a reason why most won't make it. And that reason is, quite simply, the disconnect between what AI is capable of doing, and what AI should be doing."

Bernardes noted that AI usage is already widespread across organisations, sometimes occurring without formal oversight. She said, "That's because these tools are typically available as freemium services and used by individuals supporting their personal productivity. Whether, or how that translates into corporate productivity is murkier by far."

Concerns over shadow IT and governance

While the accessibility of AI tools can expedite individual and even organisational acceptance of new technologies, it also introduces new governance challenges and inconsistent outcomes. Bernardes drew a parallel with the consumerisation of IT trend, noting that this development brings about its own set of organisational challenges, particularly surrounding uncontrolled technology use referred to as 'shadow IT'.

She stated, "Specifically, those problems include governance, inconsistent outcomes from AI tools, and a potentially staggering rise in shadow IT."

Structured approach to AI deployment

According to Bernardes, Lancom Technology's new suite of services is designed to clarify the process of implementing AI across companies by focusing on structure, guidelines, and support aligned with organisational objectives. "We take an ontology-driven approach structuring data to deliver consistent insights and practical AI-powered tools," she explained.

She further noted, "Our solutions equip leaders and companies to apply AI to eliminate repetitive busy-work, enhance decision-making, and unlock transformative opportunities, while managing the practical risks of applying emerging technology."

Impacts and growth opportunities

Lancom Technology's recently published whitepaper indicates that organisations led by AI-focused executives experience 1.5 times the growth of their peers. The study highlights accelerated outcomes for routine business operations, such as software testing, and notes that 58% of executives reported revenue increases linked to AI adoption.

Service offerings

The new services launched by Lancom Technology are structured to support businesses from strategy through to practical deployment. These include the Executive AI Strategy Managed Service, which aims to build enterprise-wide AI capabilities, develop a governance framework, and guide prototype planning. The AI Strategy Intensive Workshop is a one-day session designed for executives, focusing on best practices and frameworks for immediate application in their organisations.

Additionally, the AI Prototype Development service bridges strategy with actual implementation by helping businesses build functional prototypes using platforms such as Microsoft and AWS. This aims to give companies confidence and technical foundations for further AI development.

Bernardes explained the rationale behind launching with consulting and prototyping engagements. "Through customer conversations and a series of roundtables where we have invited perceptions from multiple industries, it is clear that AI is on the agenda, often by stealth. With our new services, we're putting it front and centre. And moving our clients towards strategic action delivering lasting value."
