Lancom names Aimee Lin Chief Technology Officer for growth
Lancom Technology has appointed Aimee Lin as Chief Technology Officer, creating a new executive role as the managed services and cloud provider expands across New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
Lin joins Lancom's Senior Leadership Team with a background in software product development, security and cloud platforms. She is a co-founder and former Chief Product Officer of DataMasque, a data privacy and masking software company.
Chief Executive Priscila Bernardes said the business created the CTO role as it grows and puts greater emphasis on mid-market delivery. Lin will set technical direction across services, software and security, and help align technology with business strategy and operations.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Aimee on board," Bernardes said. "She is a true heavy hitter, having founded, grown and exited an independent software vendor, in addition to a managed services background. Aimee's experience spanning both the AWS and Microsoft ecosystems enables us to continue lifting our game serving organisations choosing to partner with Lancom."
Lancom operates across managed services, cloud consulting and software development. It works across the Microsoft and Amazon Web Services ecosystems and has built a substantial managed services business alongside project delivery and development work.
Lin's remit includes professional services, software development, artificial intelligence and security. The appointment is effective immediately.
Product background
Lin helped build DataMasque after identifying what she saw as gaps in available tools while working in managed services. She said the company grew out of practical delivery needs rather than a research exercise.
"DataMasque came about when I was Head of Data at a managed services provider consultancy. We had to provide data virtualization capabilities as part of an RFP, and the only solution we could find was clunky and expensive. So, we decided to develop our own," Lin said.
Lancom expects that experience to strengthen product thinking and delivery discipline within a services-led organisation. It also points to Lin's exposure to customers running mixed environments, including legacy systems and cloud platforms.
Her career has included roles with managed services providers and systems integrators, supporting customers moving workloads from on-premises infrastructure to cloud services. She has also engaged with AWS and Microsoft teams, according to Lancom.
Security focus
Security will be a prominent part of the CTO portfolio. Lancom cited Lin's experience across infrastructure, development and data security, as well as her familiarity with governance frameworks.
Lancom holds ISO 27001 certification, a standard for information security management systems. Governance frameworks and formal security controls have become a more visible requirement in cloud and managed services contracts, particularly in regulated industries and mid-market procurement.
Bernardes said Lin's experience aligns with Lancom's current business lines as it expands geographically and deepens mid-market delivery.
"We're known as top Microsoft and AWS cloud solutions provider, we have a substantial managed services provider business, and software development capability. Aimee has experience across every one of our business units and competencies, so we're looking forward to maturing our capabilities under her technical leadership," Bernardes said.
Customer lens
Lin said customer feedback will shape her priorities in the role and described the move as a cultural fit with the executive team and wider organisation.
"Customer feedback is everything - understanding what customers need and delivering beyond it drives success. We work in close partnership with customers, learning and growing together as their needs evolve," she said.
Executive recruitment has become a key lever for services firms seeking to differentiate in a crowded cloud market, where customers often buy outcomes rather than specific platforms. For firms operating across multiple geographies, technical governance and standardised delivery practices can also affect margins and consistency as headcount grows.
Lin said she sees strong alignment with Lancom's leadership on culture and operating approach, and linked that to the company's next phase.
"We're aligned on culture, and it's exciting to join a business with deep technical talent, a genuine commitment to customers, and a strong sense of mutual respect and support. By working closely with customers and building on Lancom's strong foundations, we can continue to refine how we deliver and scale the business into its next phase of growth."
Bernardes said expansion plans remain active across existing markets and further afield.
"Growth remains firmly on the agenda, and with the executive talent we now offer, we're looking forward to creating and delivering value for our clients across New Zealand, Australia, and further afield," she said.
