Fortinet recognised as Challenger in 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant

Thu, 11th Jul 2024

Fortinet has been named a Challenger in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Single-Vendor Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) for the second consecutive year. The company attributes this recognition to its efforts in simplifying operations, reducing costs through vendor consolidation, and ensuring consistent security posture for users regardless of their location. Additionally, Fortinet’s hosted and managed security solutions, integrated with native SD-WAN capabilities, have also played a crucial role in this achievement.

John Maddison, Chief Marketing Officer at Fortinet, commented on the recognition: "Fortinet Unified SASE embodies our longstanding commitment to converging networking and security to deliver integrated solutions to our customers. Like most offerings across the Fortinet Security Fabric, our Unified SASE solution is powered by a single operating system and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered security services that enable consistent security and user experience no matter where users are."

Fortinet's unified SASE solution comprises a combination of Secure Internet Access (SIA), Secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Access (SSA), Universal Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Secure SD-WAN, Security Service Edge (SSE), and Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM). All these components are managed through a single operating system, single agent, and single console. This integrated approach aims to streamline secure private applications (SPA) and ensure comprehensive security and seamless connectivity.

According to the company, the recognition by Gartner is partly due to Fortinet's capability in integrating advanced networking technologies and offering full deployment flexibility. The solution allows businesses to adapt to evolving security needs while ensuring optimal performance for hybrid work environments. The integration under a single operating system, FortiOS, reduces the need for multiple security vendors, thereby decreasing complexity and easing IT resource strains.

Fortinet continues to enhance its global SASE presence with a robust strategy to meet increasing demand. The company maintains a monthly release cycle for its SASE product updates and boasts a global footprint with over 140 points of presence (PoPs) through both Fortinet-owned data centres and strategic partnerships, including with Google Cloud.

Fortinet has also been recognised for its Security Service Edge, SD-WAN, and other network security solutions. Recently, Fortinet was named a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN for the fourth consecutive year. The company also holds a Challenger position in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Service Edge. Fortinet positions itself uniquely in the industry by being featured in multiple Magic Quadrant reports, including those for Network Firewall, Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure, and Single-Vendor SASE.

Fortinet’s product suite is built on the principle of integrating networking and security through its single operating system, FortiOS. This uniform approach facilitates risk mitigation, complexity reduction, and improved user experiences for customers. The firm’s dedication to continuous innovation and customer satisfaction has been central to its recognition in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Single-Vendor SASE.

As the SASE market is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 29%, with projections to reach over USD $25 billion by 2027, Fortinet emphasises its commitment to strategic investments and adaptations in this sector. The company’s enriched Unified SASE solution, along with its ongoing product improvements, is set to support the increasing adoption of SASE frameworks globally.
