CrowdStrike and Telkom Indonesia have signed a memorandum of understanding on AI-driven cybersecurity in Indonesia. The agreement also covers Telkom's planned use of CrowdStrike's Falcon platform for its own cyber defences.

The arrangement would combine CrowdStrike's Falcon platform and security services with Telkom's market position in Indonesia, its customer base across public and private sector organisations, and its technology infrastructure.

Under the agreement, the companies plan to explore managed security services tied to enterprise AI adoption. They also intend to form a joint team to develop products and services to protect AI agents, models and systems.

For Telkom, the move includes plans to standardise its cybersecurity operations on the Falcon platform. The partners will also work on security offerings for customers and joint commercial initiatives in Indonesia.

AI focus

The partnership centres on the growing use of AI by organisations and the security risks that come with it. CrowdStrike and Telkom will assess the use of Falcon AI Detection and Response, or AIDR, within managed services designed to help companies secure AI deployments.

The service is intended to provide visibility into AI activity at the endpoint and across broader enterprise systems. The proposed joint team would also develop ways to strengthen protection for AI systems as adoption expands.

The agreement reflects a broader push by technology and telecoms groups to link cybersecurity services to AI spending in South-East Asia. Indonesia has been a particular focus for suppliers because of the scale of its digital economy and the reach of state-backed telecoms and technology providers.

Telkom plays a central role in that market through its service footprint and relationships with government bodies and businesses. By aligning with a global cyber vendor, it aims to strengthen its internal security posture and expand its security services portfolio for customers.

Local reach

The collaboration will draw on Telkom's local market knowledge and broad customer access. That reflects a common approach for overseas cyber companies entering or expanding in large national markets, where established domestic partners already have distribution, operational teams and trusted relationships with major buyers.

The work will also include strengthening Telkom's own security teams and analysts to improve detection and response to attacks. That suggests the partnership goes beyond product resale or branding and includes operational changes within Telkom itself.

Organisations in Indonesia face a broader range of cyber risks as digital services spread and AI tools move into daily use. Security providers are increasingly pitching services not only to defend conventional IT systems, but also to monitor and control the use of AI models and software agents inside businesses.

CrowdStrike has been building its position around that argument, presenting AI both as a tool for defenders and as a new area requiring dedicated protection. For telecoms operators and large technology groups such as Telkom, that creates an opportunity to package security monitoring, incident response and consulting into broader service offerings.

Jonathon Dixon, Vice President and Managing Director, Japan and Asia Pacific at CrowdStrike, outlined the company's view of the shift.

"AI is transforming how organizations operate and how they run cybersecurity programs," said Jonathon Dixon, Vice President and Managing Director, Japan and Asia Pacific at CrowdStrike. "Telkom shares our commitment to securing Indonesia's AI future, bringing AI-powered protection and security for AI to the organizations powering the region's digital transformation."

Telkom said the collaboration was also intended to deepen the expertise of its own teams while addressing a threat environment shaped by faster and more complex attacks. It linked that work to a longer-term effort to improve resilience against threats tied to emerging technologies.

"Through our collaboration with CrowdStrike we aim to help organizations enhance their cybersecurity with proven security capabilities that address the speed and sophistication of today's attacks," said Seno Soemadji, Director of Strategic Business Development & Portfolio at Telkom Indonesia. "Importantly, by working closely together with CrowdStrike, the expertise of our security teams and analysts will also be strengthened, enhancing our ability to help our broad customer base detect and respond to attacks. This collaboration will explore long-term cyber resilience, including hardening regional organizations against threats advanced by emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing."
