Check Point unveils AI-powered Quantum Firewall Software

Today

Check Point Software Technologies has introduced its new AI-powered Quantum Firewall Software, R82, aimed at enhancing security for organisations against sophisticated cyber threats.

This latest software, part of Check Point's Infinity Platform, is designed to address the substantial increase in cyber-attacks globally, which have risen by 75%.

The R82 firewall deploys new AI-driven engines capable of preventing zero-day threats, including phishing, malware, and domain name system (DNS) exploits. Enhanced features also include architectural innovations facilitating DevOps agility and simplification for data centre operations and scalability.

Nataly Kremer, Chief Product Officer at Check Point Software Technologies, commented, "Threats are continuing to multiply exponentially, and organisations need intelligent solutions that can keep them a step ahead. Network security is increasingly strategic. Our suite of AI-powered threat prevention tools—from Check Point Quantum Firewall Software R82 to GenAI Protect and more—are not only bringing world-class innovations, but also relentlessly focused on making it operationally simple and resilient."

The Quantum Software R82 offers over 50 new capabilities for enterprise customers. One of its key features is the AI-Powered Threat Prevention which claims to block 99.8% of zero-day threats. This is achieved through the introduction of four new AI engines that identify hidden relationships and patterns, potentially blocking over 500,000 additional attacks per month. These capabilities are crucial in protecting against advanced phishing and malware campaigns.

Another significant improvement is in datacentre operations with the automation of security policy integration, speeding up app development. The updated firewall virtualization now enables organisations to provision virtual systems for multi-tenancy and agile application development at a rate three times faster than before.

The operational simplicity aspect of R82 allows for seamless scalability in networks of various sizes, with the system automatically adapting to business growth and traffic fluctuations.

The software incorporates built-in load sharing and clustering technology known as ElasticXL, and claims that firewall management provisioning and operations are now three times faster.

For future-proofing security, the software introduces Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) using the latest NIST-approved cryptography Kyber (ML-KEM), aiming to ensure today's encrypted data remains secure against future quantum-based threats.

Frank Dickson, IDC Group Vice President of Security and Trust, stated, "Maintaining effective network security requires AI, automation, and the ability to adapt quickly to the latest threats. Security needs to be strong, but it also needs to enable business innovation at the speed of DevOps. With Check Point's new collaborative AI-powered solutions and Quantum Firewall Software, Check Point looks to deliver high performance AI threat prevention while enabling organisations to innovate quickly."

The Quantum Firewall Software R82 builds upon Check Point's existing suite of AI-powered solutions which include the Infinity AI Copilot, aimed at automating and expediting security management, and GenAI Protect, a tool for enabling the secure adoption of generative AI in enterprises.

Jeff Burgess, Manager I.T. Enterprise at Aviation Technical Services, remarked on the performance improvements: "We've seen a definite performance increase and operational value with our upgrade to Check Point's Quantum Firewall Software R82 software release."

"The new Quantum Firewall software allows us to secure and manage our encrypted traffic more easily than ever. With Check Point, all of our security products are working in sync together to provide a level of security which was previously unattainable."

Check Point Software Technologies continues to focus on cyber-attack prevention with its AI-powered solutions. The firm has been acknowledged as a leader in The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Firewalls and Zero Trust Platform Providers reports.
