CAST AI launches real-time Kubernetes security solution

Wed, 11th Sep 2024

CAST AI has announced the launch of its new Kubernetes Security Posture Management (KSPM) solution. This new tool provides real-time capabilities to scan Kubernetes clusters for misconfigurations, image vulnerabilities, and compliance issues.

Additionally, it identifies runtime anomalies and offers remediation solutions, including fully automated operating system patching.

"In our Series B funding announcement last November, we committed to expanding our platform's capabilities and automating even more aspects of Kubernetes management. The launch of our new Kubernetes Security Posture Management solution is a clear example of delivering on that promise," said Laurent Gil, CAST AI co-founder and Chief Product Officer.

"What sets this product apart is its evolution from passive monitoring to active defence, with the ability to automatically remediate threats in real-time," Gil said.

The KSPM solution aims to automate the threat remediation process, addressing a key gap in traditional cloud security practices. Current security tools often rely heavily on alert prioritisation, requiring security engineers to manually assess and address threats, which can be time-consuming and may allow risks to escalate. CAST AI's KSPM aims to bridge this gap by enhancing an organisation's security posture and effectiveness.

CAST AI states that its new KSPM is a lightweight and out-of-the-box solution that integrates seamlessly with existing permission models. This allows for immediate deployment without the need for additional procurement cycles or security reviews, making it a straightforward option for current customers.

The development of the KSPM solution was influenced by CAST AI's partnerships with some of the largest Kubernetes users globally. Adrien Carreira, head of infrastructure at Hugging Face, shared their experience: "We required a robust security posture for our Kubernetes applications, particularly in detecting runtime threats. While some agentless tools were effective in identifying vulnerabilities, they fell short in detecting runtime threats. We've been using CAST AI's KSPM product for several months, and it identifies and automatically blocks 20 times more runtime threats than other security tools."

Ivan Gusev, principal cloud architect at OpenX, echoed this sentiment, stating, "We've always valued CAST AI for its Kubernetes capacity management and cost optimisation capabilities. When we learned about their new security product, we immediately deployed it. As with other CAST AI offerings, this new product was incredibly user-friendly, delivering security insights in a much more actionable format than our current vendor. Continuous monitoring for runtime threats is now a core part of our environment's configuration."

Adding to the positive feedback, Jérémy Fridman, head of information security at PlayPlay, commented on the impact of adopting CAST AI for their Kubernetes management: "Since adopting CAST AI for our Kubernetes management, our security posture has become significantly more robust. The solution's automated scanning, detailed dashboards, and actionable recommendations have greatly benefited both our Security and Infrastructure teams. With automation for cost optimisation and the new integrated security features, CAST AI truly embodies the DevOps spirit."

CAST AI continues to position itself as a key player in the Kubernetes automation landscape by expanding its platform capabilities and addressing security needs via automation. The company's latest KSPM solution aims to strengthen the industry's approach to Kubernetes security by automating threat detection and remediation.
