Appdome unveils MobileEDR solution for improved enterprise mobile security
Appdome has launched a pioneering solution to tackle the security issues arising from Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies within the enterprise sector. Named MobileEDR with Threat-EKG, this ground-breaking solution embeds Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) in the mobile apps used by employees, thereby enhancing visibility, control, and reliability for businesses.
The cutting-edge solution remedies the flaws inherent in traditional Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Mobile Threat Defence (MTD) products for BYOD. Typically, these products necessitated agents or separate apps on the user's device, a method often deemed futile due to employees disabling the agents, as well as constraints from privacy regulations on the security coverage for BYODs.
The features of Appdome's novel solution include no requirement for a separate MTD app, SDK, code, or server. Its agentless approach diminishes the responsibility linked to tracking a device. It adeptly allows firms to guard their data without violating employee's privacy. By embodying telemetry data in ThreatScope, the solution furnishes real-time visibility and an agile response to any potential threat or attack against Android and iOS apps.
Addressing the compromise of existing MTD and EDR solutions, Richard Stiennon, Chief Research Analyst with IT-Harvest, stated, "Mobile EDR and threat detection solutions have failed to gain wide adoption for several reasons, privacy concerns and compliance, implementation complexity of SDKs, and lack of mobile end-user trust with MTD apps and agents on their BYOD devices." He added that the approach taken by Appdome delivers the robustness of Mobile EDR and MTD, including protection, response, and visibility, all without the friction of SDK, server, and agent-based methodologies.
The newly announced Appdome MobileEDR is an integrated mobile EDR and MTD solution developed into enterprise mobile apps via the patented no-code platform of Appdome. By injecting the necessary device inspection, threat detection, and telemetry capabilities into the mobile app itself, Appdome ensures continuous and extensive monitoring of Android and iOS devices. This includes mobile smartphones, embedded apps, VR apps, and wearable apps. All mobile threat inspections occur throughout the use of each mobile app, excluding any server or external attestation. This guarantees full runtime protection, enhances stability and response, and eradicates signal spoofing common with server attestation services.
Tom Tovar, Co-Creator and CEO of Appdome, highlighted, "We've built the first mobile EDR/MTD solution that addresses the reality of how organisations need to detect and respond to mobile threats in the enterprise. SolarWinds taught all of us that malware on a mobile device can compromise an enterprise network, and to protect the enterprise network, you need broad adoption and persistence in your mobile EDR/MTD solution. It does no good if it's not used or it can be turned off."
The key features of Appdome MobileEDR solution encompass In-App Enterprise Delivery, In-Use Mobile Threat Inspection, the broadest Mobile Threat Detection, Anywhere Enforcement, Adaptive Mobile Trust, and Appdome ThreatScope Mobile XDR.
Chris Roeckl, Chief Product Officer at Appdome, stated, "Enterprises need more flexible and agile ways to stay ahead of mobile threats, malware, NSOs, and protect their employees and networks effectively. MobileEDR is the only mobile EDR and MTD that goes beyond the basic device inspection to include geo-compliance, social engineering defences and more. We can't wait to get this product into the hands of enterprises everywhere."
