Alkira to launch new zero trust network access service in 2024

Thu, 24th Oct 2024

Alkira has announced the launch of the Alkira Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) service, set to be available for general release in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The new cloud-based ZTNA platform is designed to provide a unified approach to secure connectivity, addressing the challenges faced by enterprises in today's distributed work environment. By integrating zero trust principles with existing network infrastructure, the service aims to offer granular, identity-based access while optimising performance.

"Alkira ZTNA revolutionises secure access by combining zero trust principles with network infrastructure expertise," said Manan Shah, Senior Vice President of Products at Alkira. "By treating all traffic flows equally—whether user-to-app, app-to-app, or user-to-internet—we're providing a level of consistency that's unprecedented in the industry. Our solution not only enhances security but also optimises performance and simplifies management, all through a single, scalable platform."

The Alkira Zero Trust Network Access solution is built on the Alkira Cloud Exchange Points (CXPs), distributed points of presence that form the backbone of the service. These points ensure secure access and efficient traffic routing, complemented by the Alkira SecureConnect Client, which facilitates remote access for end-users.

Alkira's ZTNA platform is set apart by several key features. Among these is its unified solution that provides consistent security and efficiency across various types of traffic flows. It leverages a network-first approach, using existing network segmentation to enhance security without affecting performance. The decentralised architecture involves a centralised policy enforcement engine combined with a decentralised data plane, ensuring optimal performance and ease of use. Furthermore, the service simplifies network management through a single interface dashboard, offering integrated full-stack security and the flexibility to adapt to changing organisational needs.

Shamus McGillicuddy, Vice President of Research at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), commented on Alkira's comprehensive approach: "In a landscape where many ZTNA solutions focus solely on user-to-app scenarios, Alkira's comprehensive approach stands out. By addressing the full spectrum of enterprise traffic flows within a single platform, Alkira is positioning itself as a leader in the next generation of secure access solutions."

Recently, Alkira entered into an exclusive reseller and managed service provider partnership with Astrotel for the Asia Pacific region. This arrangement underscores Astrotel's commitment to delivering cutting-edge connectivity solutions that meet the evolving demands of the digital landscape, emphasising the value placed on next-generation technologies by the organisation.

Astrotel's involvement in this collaborative effort is indicative of its strategic focus on deploying advanced technological solutions across the region. Through this partnership, both companies aim to enhance secure network access and drive innovation in secure connectivity for modern enterprises.

Alkira Zero Trust Network Access is designed for seamless integration with existing identity providers and supports multi-factor authentication. It offers real-time visibility into user sessions and network flows, meeting organisations' needs as they adapt to the challenges of digital transformation. The platform will be generally available by the end of next year.
