TPT Group has purchased Auckland-based IT services provider Sentinel Technologies in the latest of its acquisitions in the technology and electronic security sector.

The Group purchased Sentinel to further strengthen its capabilities in New Zealand. Group CEO Mike Marr says it continues to invest in the changing technology sector.

“The Sentinel Technologies acquisition reinforces a number of our Group businesses including Advanced Security,” he says.

Sentinel Technologies has been on Auckland's IT scene since 2005 and operates across the entire region. As part of the acquisition all staff will stay on and the company will continue to trade under its current name.

Sentinel Technologies has numerous IT capabilities including cybersecurity and advisory, data recovery, backups, cloud and hardware procurement.

“In an age of innovation and disruption we see the acquisition of Sentinel Technologies as a great strategic fit as it will assist with the release of a number of new products and services to our customers”, Marr continues.

Sentinel Technologies co-owners Phillip Hitchcock and Craig Inglis say they are pleased to become part of the TPT Group and see more opportunities ahead.

“The acquisition adds a new dimension to the TPT Group and furthers the service ability we can pass on to the market,” adds TPT Group chairman Graeme Hansen.

TPT Group has completed a number of businesses over the last few years. The Sentinel Technologies purchase is its seventh acquisition.

In 2016 TPT Group purchased Concord Security, a provider of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection and other security services.

In 2014 TPT Group purchased South Island integrator Struthers Electronics - Security.

According to its website, TPT Group also owns TPT Finance; electronic security integrator ASGSPL; Promessa Property Group; ASG Technologies; surveillance drone firm VigilAir; and Asset Insight.

Sentinel Technologies will work alongside Advanced Security and other Group businesses. TPT Group says it expects to announce further acquisitions in the coming months.

“In an age of innovation and disruption we see the acquisition of Sentinel Technologies as a great strategic fit as it will assist with the release of a number of new products and services to our customers”, Marr concludes.
