SUSE launches new AI platform for secure GenAI management

Fri, 22nd Nov 2024

SUSE has announced the release of SUSE AI, a platform designed to assist enterprises in deploying and managing GenAI applications.

SUSE, known for its open enterprise solutions, has introduced SUSE AI as an integrated cloud native platform to aid companies in gaining control over their artificial intelligence deployments.

The platform aims to address industry concerns regarding security, privacy, and compliance, particularly for organisations in highly regulated sectors.

As businesses transition from experimenting with AI to deploying it, they often encounter issues related to security and compliance. Many AI systems lack inherent privacy measures, compelling industries like finance to develop custom solutions to protect intellectual property. SUSE AI seeks to simplify this by offering a platform that enables the secure management of private GenAI solutions, thus maintaining the speed and efficacy of AI technologies.

SUSE AI was developed with feedback from SUSE's AI Early Access Program, a venture bringing together SUSE's GenAI experts, customers, and partners to ensure the platform's security and compliance.

Abhinav Puri, Vice President of Portfolio Solutions at SUSE, commented on the potential risks associated with AI: "AI is incredibly powerful, but without consideration, it has the potential to cause harm and damage reputations."

"As the value of GenAI - and the need for it - becomes more apparent, we are seeing customers struggle with compliance risks, shadow AI, and a lack of control, not to mention the vendor lock-in and skyrocketing costs associated with early-stage AI solutions. SUSE's approach to AI, delivered in our SUSE AI solutions and the SUSE AI Early Access Program, helps address these issues for customers."

Nidhi Srivastava, Global Head of AI.Cloud Offerings at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with SUSE: "As enterprises demand for more secure, scalable AI solutions, our customers look to us for help in solving their critical challenges in privacy, compliance, and control. We are thrilled to partner with SUSE on the launch of its SUSE AI platform. Its new GenAI capabilities help to maintain security and sovereignty, which is essential in today's regulatory landscape."

"Together with SUSE, we are committed to helping enterprises use AI to drive meaningful innovation while keeping their data protected."

SUSE AI is designed to be secure from the ground up, offering tools that ensure zero trust security, comprehensive templates, and playbooks for compliance. The platform aims to protect sensitive data, reduce the risk of breaches, and enhance incident response capabilities.

The trust aspect of SUSE AI allows enterprises to deploy AI solutions confidently, ensuring the integrity and privacy of customer data across various environments, whether on-premises, hybrid, or cloud-based.

SUSE AI offers flexibility and choice, allowing businesses to select and integrate various AI components according to their needs. The platform provides for easy deployment of large language models and ensures seamless operations with pre-configured tools and services.
