New product defends SMBs from cyber attacks - big opportunity for resellers
Tue, 4th Apr 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

SMBs are increasingly becoming targets for cyber attacks and they are desperate for protection. There is a wealth of opportunity for not only security vendors like Norton by Symantec, but resellers too.

According to recent research from Norton, almost one in five small and medium business (18% of Kiwi SMBs and 19% of Australian SMBs) have been hit by an attack in the last 12 months.

Attackers love the fact that SMBs often don't see security as a priority. They don't have the time, skills or manpower to successfully manage cyber risks across their devices. This is a valuable opportunity for resellers, which can serve the market gap and make it easier for SMBs in one go.

Norton's latest offering, Norton Security for Professionals, has been simply designed for SMBs to provide layered protection over almost any device, whether PCs, Macs, smartphones or tablets.

Offered on a simple monthly or annual subscription model, Norton has partnered with Ingram Micro to offer Norton Security for Professionals on the IM.Cloud console, available on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

Mark Gorrie, director of the Norton Business Unit, Pacific region, Symantec, says resellers are the most influential channel to connect with SMBs.

“Previously, partners selling Norton products would not benefit from renewals as customers would be directed back to Norton at the time of renewal,” he says.

“To better engage and incentivise the channel, Norton has decided to revamp its partner program allowing partners to directly manage renewals for customers on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace so that more revenue can flow back to partners. This change is aimed at delivering a more predictable, profitable and long-term revenue stream for partners,” he says.

Resellers can purchase and deploy licenses that are sold on a per user basis for up to five devices through the Ingram Micro Cloud console.

“Norton has been synonymous with technology protection since the earliest days of the personal computer. That we can now quickly and easily deliver the latest in protection via the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is a great step forward for our channel partners and their customers,” comments Gary Bigwood, managing director, Technology Solutions at Ingram Micro NZ.

Norton Security for Professionals offers:

  • Enhanced protection and performance using advanced, multi-layered security to protect devices, data and personal files
  • Proactive exploit prevention to protect application holes from zero-day attacks
  • Emulation technology to spot antivirus-evading malware before it strikes: 83% of malware evades antivirus so emulation technology is an important part of customer protection
  • Predictive machine learning engine to train and automate detection of non-signature malware types

Norton Security for Professionals is available now via the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace. Pricing for resellers is available directly through Ingram Micro. The recommended retail price starts at AUD$149.99/NZD$169.99 annually, per user for up to five devices.
