Off the back of the McAfee’s newest status as a standalone AV giant, the company has now appointed a new Sydney-based APAC chief technology officer.
Ian Yip, a former Ernst & Young cybersecurity director, will work with the APAC market to achieve ‘growth mode’.
Gavin Struthers, McAfee’s senior VP and president of Asia Pacific sales, says Yip displays ‘remarkable’ strategic leadership experience - something that the renewed McAfee Needs.
“The increasing global realisation of the importance of cybersecurity has revealed the clear security skills gap that exists in our industry, but as McAfee continues in our growth mode, a huge focus for us is increasing the level of threat intelligence sharing across the industry through our Security Innovation Alliance ecosystem,” he says.
Yip has worked across leadership, advisory, consulting, marketing, product management, sales and technical roles across Europe and APAC. He has worked for the likes of IBM, CA Technologies and NetIQ.
He has also served as a Professional Advisory Board Member for the Faculty of Engineering and IT for the University of Technology Sydney.
"McAfee has enjoyed an impressive near thirty years of security excellence and with the recent transition of the brand from Intel Security, it feels like the perfect juncture to be joining the company,” Yip says.
He says he is ‘extremely excited’ about driving McAfee’s strategic technical direction forward for APAC.
“It’s my goal to ensure that we remain the standout cybersecurity offering that is at once bold, trusted, collaborative and driven to achieve the best business outcomes for our customers, whilst maintaining the appropriate level of protection,” he says.
