Getac unveils Essentials Suite to enhance rugged device management

Today

Getac has announced the launch of its Essentials Suite, a comprehensive collection of software solutions intended to address operational challenges and enhance the efficiency of field workers across various industries. The suite comprises three main components: Essential Control, Essential Apps, and Essential Utilities, each tailored to aid users in administering, managing, and maintaining their rugged devices throughout their lifecycle.

The Essentials Suite aims to tackle the complex challenges organisations face in deploying and managing rugged device fleets. Essential tasks such as enrolling and configuring new devices, remotely rolling out firmware updates, and collecting system logs are vital for maintaining operational efficiency while avoiding unplanned device downtime. These tasks can be particularly challenging to execute effectively when workforces are dispersed over large geographical areas.

Essential Control is designed to meet the specific needs of IT managers by providing innovative software solutions that allow the efficient management of numerous rugged devices simultaneously. Key features include monitoring capabilities that enable users to observe all deployed Getac devices from a central, cloud-based dashboard, helping identify potential issues before they affect field personnel. Furthermore, it offers management tools that allow the enrolment, configuration, and management of Getac Android devices over-the-air, thereby reducing the risk of security breaches and downtime. OEMConfig facilitates access to proprietary settings for Getac Android devices through enterprise mobility management (EMM) or mobile device management (MDM) platforms, ensuring streamlined deployment from a single location.

Essential Apps focuses on optimising productivity and enhancing worker safety. It incorporates user-friendly solutions such as KeyWedge, an intuitive barcode scanning application for field workers, and Driving Safety, which uses screen-blanking technology to prevent distractions for vehicle-based personnel. Another notable feature is Virtual-GPS, which replicates GPS data to multiple virtual COM ports, thereby extending the compatibility of older applications.

Essential Utilities aims to amplify the usability and functionality of Getac devices. This collection includes popular Getac apps like G-Utility, G-Camera, and Barcode Manager, alongside three new software solutions: SmartUpdate, Diagnostic, and Log Tool. These new applications are designed to streamline the management of Getac devices, making it easier for organisations to maintain operational efficiency.

James Hwang, President of Getac, commented on the launch, stating, "Organisations across the rugged industries face a multitude of challenges when it comes to the successful deployment and efficient management of their devices. Getac Essentials Suite simplifies this challenge, combining powerful software solutions and apps into a suite of comprehensive offerings to help navigate today's rapidly evolving digital landscape and provide workers with the tools needed to get the job done."

Getac Essentials Suite is now available to organisations looking to streamline their device management and improve the efficiency of their field operations.
