Gallagher Security touts vertically integrated manufacturing model

Fri, 30th Aug 2024

Global security manufacturer Gallagher Security has detailed the advantages of its vertically integrated manufacturing model, highlighting its ability to maintain consistent supply and quality assurance.

The company, based in Hamilton, New Zealand, operates with a unique model where solutions are designed, engineered, manufactured, and distributed directly from its head office. This approach allows Gallagher Security to retain complete control over its manufacturing and distribution processes.

Chief Executive Mark Junge elaborated on the benefits of this model, stating, "Because our solutions are designed, engineered, manufactured, and distributed from our head office site in Hamilton, New Zealand, we have complete oversight of manufacturing and distribution, ensuring we maintain quality, and can quickly and easily make changes, invest in raw materials, and implement strategies to ensure continued availability."

The company claims it can ship 95% of purchase orders the next day, worldwide. This level of efficiency is attributed to the firm's comprehensive control over its full supply chain. This vertical integration provides Gallagher Security with the ability to respond promptly to challenges, resulting in shorter lead times and the guaranteed quality of its products.

The disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic served as a notable example of the firm's adaptability. The global health crisis and the ensuing supply chain and shipping complications prompted Gallagher Security to re-engineer its products using accessible parts to ensure uninterrupted supply. The company’s ability to pivot during such times is seen as a testament to its innovative and customer-focused approach.

Junge emphasised the significance of this adaptability, noting that it minimises the risk of third-party limitations and global risks to people and organisations. He said, “It’s this ability to pivot and their commitment to relentless innovation that minimises the risk of third-party limitations and global risks to people and organisations, echoing their customer centric approach and putting people at the heart of everything they do.”

The company’s achievements have not gone unnoticed on the global stage. In 2023, Gallagher Security garnered five manufacturing awards across Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. These accolades were received at the Australian Security Industry Awards, the US and UK Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), and the Security and Fire Matters and Fire and Security Matters awards.

Reflecting on these achievements, Junge concluded, “We are fortunate to have a brilliant team focused on continuous improvements to the way we plan, procure, manufacture, and distribute our products. The depth of knowledge and experience in our people is what drives exceptional outcomes for our customers, and we are proud of that.”
