CrowdStrike’s ‘visionary’ approach lands a spot in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant

Cloud and endpoint security provider CrowdStrike has been named a “Visionary” in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP), the company’s first ever inclusion in the report.

The company says that, alongside the seven other new vendors in the Magic Quadrant, the report shows that there’s a shift away from traditional players in the industry.

CrowdStrike came out on top for its Completeness of Vision, demonstrating its ability to understand both current and future customer requirements, as well as delivering on functionality.

“In our view, being positioned in the “Visionary Quadrant” is exactly where it matters most to forward-thinking organizations like CrowdStrike and our customers. Visionaries align with Gartner’s view of how a market will evolve. They are companies that invest in leading-edge technologies. Their customers consider them best-of-breed in their categories. They are disruptive agents of change. We think CrowdStrike is a perfect fit,” commented CrowdStrike co-founder and CEO George Kurtz in a blog.

The company’s use of security solutions that replace legacy antivirus and signature-based methods have enabled organizations to control security spending and reduce overhead.

The company’s first cloud-native endpoint protection solution, CrowdStrike Falcon, processes 30 billion security events per day and uses crowdsourcing functionality to boost threat detection.

Kurtz says that the new approach to security has been ‘reinvented’ – and traditional antiviruses are now replacable.

“We are the first and only company to provide a complete end-to-end solution that unifies next-generation AV with EDR and managed hunting — all via a single lightweight agent,” Kurtz says.

“Our positioning in terms of both Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute validates our ability to replace legacy AV and offer a more effective solution to our customers,” Kurtz concludes.
