ControlMonkey unveils automated cloud recovery solution

Fri, 28th Mar 2025

ControlMonkey has introduced its Automated Disaster Recovery solution, described as the first fully automated cloud infrastructure restoration tool that encompasses cloud configurations, networking, and security policies, amongst other features.

Recent research indicates that 40% of organisations encountering cloud recovery issues fail to achieve optimal recovery due to traditional data-centric disaster recovery (DR) solutions that overlook critical infrastructure elements. ControlMonkey's new offering aims to mitigate these shortcomings by focusing on the entirety of cloud infrastructure rather than solely on data. This innovation offers potential benefits such as a 90% reduction in recovery time and the elimination of downtime, promising robustness in the face of cloud infrastructure failures.

Traditional data-centric DR solutions often restore databases, storage, and application data, but leave significant gaps by ignoring cloud infrastructure, networking, policies, roles, routing rules, and configurations. ControlMonkey's Automated Disaster Recovery solution addresses these inefficiencies by providing comprehensive coverage.

Partial Infrastructure as Code (IaC) coverage is a notable challenge, as many companies do not manage all their cloud infrastructure via tools like Terraform. Consequently, non-IaC-managed resources lack version control and automated recovery, prolonging recovery times. ControlMonkey's solution seeks to bridge this gap by tracking all cloud resources, including those not traditionally covered by IaC.

Changes to cloud infrastructures can be dynamic, yet existing strategies do not offer sufficient visibility, making it difficult to investigate past configurations, identify failures, and restore systems swiftly. Automation by ControlMonkey facilitates daily snapshots of entire cloud infrastructures, enhancing research and rollback capacity.

The CEO and Co-founder of ControlMonkey, Aharon Twizer, explained, "Cloud infrastructure configurations change every day. When disaster strikes, and it will, our Disaster Recovery Automation lets enterprises turn back time on cloud failures and ensure business continuity like never before. No more manual recovery, no more surprises, just seamless, automated cloud resilience."

The company highlights several additional advantages of its solution, such as automated Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) execution using Terraform, real-time drift detection to avert potential disasters, and compliance assurance to maintain cloud environments in continuous compliance. It also boasts faster Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), aiming to minimise downtime and expedite operational restoration.

ControlMonkey continues to introduce innovations including its end-to-end Terraform automation platform and AI-driven technology that facilitates seamless transition of 99% of cloud resources to Terraform, all by a simple click, furthering their objective to revolutionise enterprise cloud infrastructure delivery and governance.

"Our goal is to revolutionize how enterprise cloud teams deliver and govern infrastructure at scale," Twizer stated.
