Portnox unveils Conditional Access for Applications to improve data security
Thu, 28th Mar 2024

Portnox, a provider of cloud-native, zero trust access control solutions, has launched its new product, Conditional Access for Applications. The product will facilitate passwordless authentication, endpoint risk posture assessment and automated endpoint remediation, enabling organisations to fortify their application security posture.

As part of the Portnox cloud platform, the solution is designed to enable a considerable improvement in data security. This is facilitated through enhancing access control and risk mitigation for business-critical software as a service (SaaS) and on-premises applications.

"With the addition of Conditional Access for Applications, Portnox now delivers a single, unified solution for zero trust access control." Denny LeCompte, CEO at Portnox, explained, "Our fully cloud-native suite offers a one-stop shop for organisations looking to simplify the implementation of zero trust, make the shift to passwordless, and do it all affordably and at scale for their networks, applications, and infrastructure."

The company also continues to broaden its zero trust offerings for its cloud-native security platform for unified access. This expansion includes an easy-to-deploy certificate-based authentication for all network access layers, such as wired, wireless, and VPN, and for applications and infrastructure as well. Using digital certificates and uncomplicated cloud-native public key infrastructure (PKI), Portnox aims to eliminate the need for passwords, enhance user and admin experiences, and adopt a more secure approach to access control.

According to research by Forrester, traditional password compromise is a leading cause behind cybercriminals obtaining initial access to crucial data. The research predicts that in 2024, human elements will be involved in 90% of security breaches. "Passwordless authentication replaces the traditional password with a method that is more user friendly and more secure," states a report coauthored by Andras Cser, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester.

Jeremy Morrill, Portnox Chief Product Officer, emphasised the need for comprehensive cybersecurity protection to ensure the security compliance requirements are met continuously by IT teams. He stated, "Employees and contractors aren’t just in the office anymore – they're highly mobile and relying on business-critical applications from everywhere – including on networks that may not be secure."

The Conditional Access for Applications by Portnox is available as a standalone subscription or as a part of the Unified Access Control subscription package. This product is expected to make a contribution in securing the extensive list of enterprise applications targeted easily by access attack vectors.
